Want of Wisdom

I've been known to use the phrase "Words of Wisdom" quite often when I hear or read something inspiring from a respected source. I don't know where the phrase actually originated; I used to hear it from my stepfather every so often, and that supports my wife's claim that I'm becoming more like him every day. (I consider that a compliment my dear Mrs.!)

This is a new blog title which is the antithesis of that statement. I call it "Want of Wisdom"!

Because he’s a black man who has come from a place of oppression and repression through the years in our own country.” —John F. Kerry endorsing Barack Hussein Obama

Kwame and Konsort Receive Their Kounts

Shock and Awe.

That is my reaction to the Wayne County Prosecutor's decison on the dozen or so felony counts handed down yesterday against the King and his girl. I was truly surprised.

Some faith has been restored. Prosecutor Worthy is worthy.

Not so happy times.

Not nearly as surprising is Kwame's reaction; denile, arrogance and deflection. Typical. When this guy finally crashes, it will be one hell of a sound. His partner in crime showed a new side; contrite and quiet. She seems truly scared. She recognises what his ego is not yet able to. A tool for the prosecution, perhaps. I'll bet that is exactly what she becomes.

The process will take months I suppose. But there are many charges and it does take time for justice to find it's way, and with these two, I finally believe that it will.

Our Media's Martyr

3,996 U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the beginning of the conflict.

All week the media has been fixated on the 4,000 mark. They absolutely cannot wait to report it, whenever it comes. They sense that it is near, and so you can almost hear the anticipation in their voices. Disgusting to say, but almost the excitement.

Three more killed in the last 24 hours. The 4,000 mark is exciting to Al-Qaeda too. You know it is. With so much publicity generated here by the media, they know that we are watching and waiting; and so the push is on for a Martyr-to-be, to become a celebrity of sorts. Kind of like the baseball fan who becomes the millionth attendee at the ballpark! I truly believe that this kind of mentality exists over there.

It is amazing once again, to see how many things our media and our enemies have in common, isn't it?

There will be a 3,999th. It's a sad truth. Now, put yourself in one of our soldier's boots, stepping into a Humvee and heading out on the very next patrol. You think that won't be in the back of their minds? A chance for them to be to be a martyr themselves; for the media. In a twisted way, for Al-Qaeda. It's sickening how his or her death will serve both.

R.I.P. Jim

My last meeting with Jim in his hospital room was very special for me. I can’t really know what it did for him, other than the feeling that passed between us as we prayed together before I had to go.

Selfishly, I asked for more time to get to know this man. The answer coming back was that I should have started earlier. Now he has passed, and I’ve been slapped hard again with that old lesson about not putting off until tomorrow.....

The funeral was yesterday; very nicely handled by our Church and Clergy. The wife and family that he leaves behind will find much to lean on in that building. It makes me proud of our little parish. Jim is very pleased too, I think.

Somewhere on the other shore, the sun is coming up and a line is being rigged. Cast it out there Jim. I bet the fishing is fantastic!

Correction

In my March 2nd blog entitled "Buy Now, Pay Later", I incorrectly identified the lone American contractor in the award of the aircraft deal as McDonnell Douglas. It is actually Northrup Grumman. This has no effect on the opinion stated, but I apologize to my readers for this error in citing the wrong American firm involved in the deal.

No Konfidence in the King

A ray of hope against King Kwame's claim on the leadership of Detroit emerged today with the vote of "no confidence" by the Detroit City Council. Sadly, that's all it was. It carries no legal authority to force him out. Still, this is positive news for the city.

It will act as one more important strike to undermine what little influence remains for the King. I believe that there is a tipping point for him, although incredibly that has not yet been reached. It may be a perjury charge, also expected this week. It may be another call for resignation, this time from Governor Jen (don't hold your breath on that one!). No one really knows when his ego will give out. It may have to be a conviction.

I applaud those Council members who stood up and voted yes to "NO". As I've written before, there is an inbred condition in Detroit politics, much of it racially based, and I can imagine the heat some of these members may have to bear.

I certainly hope that much more heat will be put upon Monica Conyers, the lone dissenting vote. She can, and should pay the price next year if she dares run for re-election. Same with Martha Reeves, who was absent for today's vote, unless she was having an emergency appendectomy or some other excuse of equal import!

This is only the end of the beginning I think. Much more to come. There are a whole lot of things yet to emerge around this mayor and he'll probably be gone before all of the damages are assessed.. Abuse of power is going to be the overriding issue. Things you can do if you're a real King.

Barack's Pew

I've just gotten an earful of some of the racist rantings of Barack Hussein Obama's Pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr.. They are quite sickening to listen to. Everyone should listen to them very carefully.

His Church is the Trinity United Church of Christ. No affiliation with the world-wide Church of Christ; and you can sort of figure that out in the first minutes of his "sermons".

Obama is now predictably distancing himself from it. But wait; just a few short months ago he he was basically trumpeting this Church and his Christian beliefs in order to put to rest the Muslim label that critics were giving him.

Obama would now like to say that he doesn't personally agree with some of Rev. Wright's opinions, but I'm sorry Barack, what he is preaching are core beliefs of himself and his (your) Church. You were baptised there, your children were also, and you've attended there over 20 years. There is no way you could be that immersed in a Church, and at the same time say that these covenants are not part of your beliefs also.

I've attended my current Church for roughly the same amount of time as Obama. I know how close one needs to be to the spiritual leader of that place, in order to faithfully attend anything for that number of years. I am very close to mine. There is no other way. Does that mean we totally agree on every detail of life and religion? No. But the kind of hate and anger being espoused by Rev. Wright is so far from Christ, that it is not something you would brush aside as being just a eccentricity or quirk of just one poorly articulated sermon.

You can tell a lot about a man from where he celebrates his God. This is how it should be if he calls himself religious. We need to study Obama more. You sure aren't going to know him from his warmed-over JFK words and sunshine-rainbow happy talk.

Please visit the Trinity United Church of Christ at the link below. It will give you a glimpse of what might be behind the man, but remember, this is only the sanitized version of the site! I wish I could have read what was there before his campaign got a hold of it!

Rev. Wright preaches that "Barack is the only candidate who can take this country in a whole different direction!" Well, Reverend, now you're "preaching to the choir!"

Down, But Not Out

A calculated gamble is probably the best way to describe it.

My employer of 23 years had filed bankruptcy back in October, and I could have taken the approach that all was lost at that point, and immediately set about trying to find another "situation".

But I didn't.

The time invested was probably the biggest factor in my decision to stick it out. A desire to see things through. Maybe a chance to help re-establish a good company on more stable footing. I still believe in the fine people there.

There is also the practical points of seniority, of a certain comfort in familiarity which of course, I did not want to leave.

Unfortunately, now I'll have to deal with that loss anyway. A new company takes over this week, and I have been informed that I will be let go in the transition. I suppose that it would have been smarter in 20/20 hindsight, to have started my job search immediately upon the bankruptcy notice. Maybe then, I would have found something before time ran out. Maybe not.

I'm expecting this to be difficult. No illusions there. The state of my industry has never been more challenged, more competitive, more cutthroat, to put it bluntly.

So, a new chapter opens for me this week. Family and friends will help me to keep a positive outlook. That I already know.

Church today was, as usual, a shot in the arm for my wife and me. "Family" almost always is. Hugs, a lot of kind words, and smiles, all offer comfort and support.

And while I haven't been in the best of moods this weekend, I was given the opportunity to offer support of my own to the family of a friend who is near death. And to other friends who just lost a brother at way too young an age. Very sad, both of these.

There is no better therapy for your own troubles that to try and offer help to others with much larger issues to deal with. The truth is, I only lost a job.

Today, my good friend and Pastor, Fr. Chris, spoke in his sermon about the challenges of faith. How it is sometimes very difficult. Not always comfortable. He also talked about the rewards. That was all too relevant for me on this particular Sunday as I had good doses of both these things.

Life has delt me a blow. Faith will stand me up.

Kouncil Kop-Out on Kwame Kase

As predicted here....

The Detroit City Council has tabled any decison on KIng Kwame. Apparently, they do not have enough information on the Mayor's alleged problems with the truth!

Anywhere else, this would be impossible to believe when one simply looks at the preponderance of evidence on this guy. But not in the fair City of Detroit and this inbred bunch of politicians.

OK citizens; your elected officials are all together on this apparently, and so it will be up to you. I understand that a recall petition template has been approved in Wayne County. This may be your only chance.

The rest of Michigan is watching and anticipating nothing. Prove us wrong.

Oh.....and next year, the Council Clowns are up for re-election, just in case you're serious about taking your city back.

What's In A Name?

The Tennessee Republican Committee has been banned from using Barack's full name in any of their campaign materials. The RNC has told them so.

The Republican National Committee is staying to the high ground I suppose. Very commendable. I wonder if the libs will be as gentlemenly in their campaign ads? Yeah, sure. I think that the NY Times mistress attack on McCain shows the fairness that will be applied in the coming months.

So let me get this straight; GOP strategists will be vilified for speaking honestly about the opponent??

Call him anything you want, just don't call him by his name. You know; the "H" word!

If elected, how will he be sworn in?
Barack Obama? Barack H. Obama? H. Barack Obama? Mr. Obama? How about just B.O.?

Maybe the dems should think this one over. Purposely omitting the "H' word could be taken as an insult to some of our Islamic enemies. What kind of diplomacy does that show? Is that any way to start off with the new national policy that Barack says he will undertake? You know; heading overseas to sit and talk with all of the good people that George W. has shunned and insulted.

Knowing how good the dems are at playing to any specific audience, I'll bet he asks the Hezbollah to "please, just call me Hussein"!

Buy Now, Pay Later

The Air Force has just announced that it is ready to award $35 billion in new military contracts for the delivery of new, state of the art refueling tanker aircraft.

The decision on who gets the award comes as a result of a competitive bid process which, on the surface, seems fair and right.

Sadly though, the Boeing Aircraft Company, THE icon of the U.S. civilian and military aircraft industry, will not get the award. Instead, only a small portion will be awarded to an American company, McDonnell Douglas, and the bulk of the award will go to Europe's Airbus.

Now let me say first, that I totally agree with the need to conduct these huge expeditures in a competitive process. It also good that two or more share in the award. But why should we ever put a non-U.S. entity ahead of an American concern especially in high-technology areas?

So what if it costs the U.S. a bit more? There has to be more than that to be gained by keeping those contracts in the country. Jobs, technology, and taxes to just name the obvious. Are we ready to give everything away for a few dollars? What's next; some Chinese or Indian fighter jet, just because they can be made cheaper? Our auto industry is well on it's way there now. Don't think it can't happen to aircraft. Even Airbus had better watch out then. Once they have the technology, there's an indian more than willing to build aircraft for $1.75 a day.

How close are we getting to manufacturing nothing of significance in this country? It may be closer than we think.

And when did Washington suddenly become so cost-conscious? They probably p*** away more money in a single day, than what's in the penalty of buying from Boeing on this contract.

It is past the time when we need to be more protectionist with our key industries. The longer we wait, the more parity we give to the rest of the world and ultimately, it will cost us a lot more than this.

Who Speaks For Islam?

So a new Gallup Poll finds that an overwhelming majority of Muslims around the globe do not agree with radical Islamic tactics of blowing up children and other terrorist acts.

May I ask, what the hell difference that makes?? Are we supposed to feel better now? I ask, because the poll states that these findings should challenge Western notions that equate Islam with radicalism and violence.

Well, let's see;

There were millions of Germans who didn't agree with Hitler's actions.

There were more millions of Russians who did not believe in Stalin's methods.

And do you really think that all North Koreans endorse the nut-bag running their country?

The point is, that it doesn't really matter what the masses believe, as long as the few have control and can conduct their agenda through fear and suppression. They become the entity.

The poll states that about 93% of the world's 1.3 billion Muslims are moderates and only seven percent are politically radical. Oh, that's a relief. Only 91,000,000 Muslims actually agree with flying airliners into skyscrapers! No, Islam is not a violent religion at all!

The real issue remains that there are far too few civilized men of peace who can speak for, or control the Muslims around the world. Their clergy seemingly have no voice, unless they themselves are promoting violence. So whether you agree or not, it is the "rest of them" who speak for Islam, and establish who, and what they are in the world.
