Our Media's Martyr

3,996 U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the beginning of the conflict.

All week the media has been fixated on the 4,000 mark. They absolutely cannot wait to report it, whenever it comes. They sense that it is near, and so you can almost hear the anticipation in their voices. Disgusting to say, but almost the excitement.

Three more killed in the last 24 hours. The 4,000 mark is exciting to Al-Qaeda too. You know it is. With so much publicity generated here by the media, they know that we are watching and waiting; and so the push is on for a Martyr-to-be, to become a celebrity of sorts. Kind of like the baseball fan who becomes the millionth attendee at the ballpark! I truly believe that this kind of mentality exists over there.

It is amazing once again, to see how many things our media and our enemies have in common, isn't it?

There will be a 3,999th. It's a sad truth. Now, put yourself in one of our soldier's boots, stepping into a Humvee and heading out on the very next patrol. You think that won't be in the back of their minds? A chance for them to be to be a martyr themselves; for the media. In a twisted way, for Al-Qaeda. It's sickening how his or her death will serve both.

Maybe, just maybe, it is about time to amputate the iranian connection to the killing field of Iraq.
