R.I.P. Jim

My last meeting with Jim in his hospital room was very special for me. I can’t really know what it did for him, other than the feeling that passed between us as we prayed together before I had to go.

Selfishly, I asked for more time to get to know this man. The answer coming back was that I should have started earlier. Now he has passed, and I’ve been slapped hard again with that old lesson about not putting off until tomorrow.....

The funeral was yesterday; very nicely handled by our Church and Clergy. The wife and family that he leaves behind will find much to lean on in that building. It makes me proud of our little parish. Jim is very pleased too, I think.

Somewhere on the other shore, the sun is coming up and a line is being rigged. Cast it out there Jim. I bet the fishing is fantastic!
