The dems are on the attack. Predictably, tearing away at Sarah Palin's lack of experience. Yet they defend Obama's even thinner background.
Let's just all face the facts; both Obama and Palin are young and inexperienced. But the one, huge and obvious difference is that one, if elected, guarantees this level of experience will be at the helm, the other is a remote possibility. Yet the media is already focused on the latter. They've got McCain dead on the way home from the inauguration!
Obama himself has had little to say in criticism. What can he say? The one comment I heard from him was that "she (Palin) just mirrors McCain's view on the economy and foreign affairs". Duh! As if he and Biden didn't have the same cracked viewpoints on those same subjects!!
Two months to go, and this is going to be fun. The turnout will probably be tremendous. I've never been "active" in politics, just a good citizen exercising my right to vote since the day it was legal for me to do so. I'm not including my 1968, 5th grade "Convention" in which I led H.H.H.'s campaign to victory! (Thank God I grew up!) Yeah, this one is evolving into the most enthralling contest of all. So let the games really begin!

Sarah's Got It

McCain has made his choice for running mate, and it is Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska.
Readers of this blog know that I have been promoting this choice since January. I suspect that McCain himself has been a reader! Like Gen. Patton once said of Rommel….”that son of a bitch read my book!”
She is young, successful, smart, pretty and conservative. If she’d been anywhere but Alaska for the last few years, she’d be instantly recognized.
This is an excellent choice.
Women voters will identify with this soccer mom. I can hardly wait for Hillary or Pelosi to take their first shots at her. They’ll p*** all over themselves when they do! Or let Obama make a comment. He’s still suffering with some about the treatment Hillary got.
Conservatives will like the fact that she’s considerably right of her new boss!
Younger generations who are put off by McCain’s age will like her youth.
Maybe the VP choice makes no difference at all, but this one won’t hurt.

Keep The Change
Thanks Barack! Another poor decision on your part that can only help secure your defeat in November.
Joe Biden??

Wait a minute; what happened to your message of change? What about your desire to try and negate the old establishment of life-long legislators living within the Beltway? Hasn’t this been your mantra from day-one?
So now you choose Biden? No military leadership, no corporate experience, no mayoral experience, and never governed anything. Just another legislator, like yourself, only with more time to become ingrained with that Washington elite, big-government, bureaucratic attitude that you have so vehemently denounced. You even threw Hillary into that category.
Change?
But wait. I think I get it. Biden is a smooth-talker. No doubt about it. Polished. Confident.
Now I see the attraction.
Forget the “old-school” aspect of the guy. You know, typical career dem; take everyone’s guns, kill the babies, socialize medicine, gay rights, higher taxes, etc.. This guy is all that! But he is also smooth. Convincing. Someone with whom you can really relate.
Makes sense, but I think it will backfire on you. Certainly is not going to help.
Change?
Thanks Obama.

Red and Gold
With the Olympics drawing to a close, the U.S. remains in a very slim lead for the overall medal count. Our new arch-nemesis, China has been nipping at our heels the entire way. The first big accomplishment for them was securing the games. Now what a fantastic prize it would be for them to also take the games in overall medals!
I have to admit that from what I’ve witnessed on television, the Chinese have done a wonderful job with facilities and general management of the games. Whatever evils are rumored to be present around the games, pollution, bloodied protesters, grilled dachshunds, etc., they have been masterfully hidden by the Olympic façade.
Certain things have been a problem for them though:
Like 11 year old gymnasts. Did they really expect that they could march them out there and convince the world that they were 16 just by the application of some Tammy Faye make-up on these little girls? It was probably the general lack of females that forced them to cheat. They only have 700 million of them!
And how about those little nagging injuries that kept happening to that Chinese woman volleyball player and causing the long medical time-outs? Six foot-three and rock solid…yet so frail?!! Amazing how she’d keep going right back out there and instantly spike the opponent! The miracle of Chinese medicine!
And off the field….
There was that incident with the British reporter being roughed-up for walking across the street from the track and field stadium to get a look at a small Tibet protest going on. The authorities said that they “forgot” to look at his press credentials. Maybe in the London 2012 games a friendly “Bobby” can return the favor?!!
Also, visitors were amazed that somehow certain websites like Amnesty International’s were mysteriously unavailable on their computers as they tied into the internet services provided by the Chinese government. That’s kind of odd isn’t it?
Still, all in all, I’m surprised that there weren’t a lot more incidents of this type. Opening up such an enormous closed society to so many free-peoples from around the world was an unimaginable challenge for them to control. But, like everything else that country has touched over the last 20 years, they have seemingly mastered this in a very short period of time.
A power to reckoned with for sure….and on so many levels. This was more than just a game.

Global Cooling
Russia’s recent move on Georgia is alarming. It brings back a ghost of the U.S.S.R.. It proves that there are other major powers out there besides the U.S. who will take action where they want, anywhere in the world. And in reality, we are powerless to stop it.
It becomes somewhat difficult for many to see the difference in what the U.S. does in Iraq, from what China does in Tibet, to what Russia is doing in Georgia now. But whether you support Iraqi Freedom or not, we had most of the free-world’s support to finally put an end to an outlaw who was destabilizing an entire region and ignoring the UN and everyone else. A real danger, as recognized back then…. even by the libs in power at that time. Georgia is something entirely different, and Russia’s claims are totally unfounded.
The thing to keep in mind is this: The same thought process under which we indoctrinate ourselves as “Policeman of the World”, Russia and/or China can do in their own minds too.
It all comes down to power, military and economic. If you’ve got it, you can flaunt it, at least on the little guys.
We don’t ever want to be a little guy. We don’t want to think like a little guy. We are now entering a new phase with Russia re-emerging economically and militarily. China is now the third biggest economy behind the U.S. and Japan. Anybody even contemplating Barack Hussein Obama as President should think very hard about these things.
We need a strong military. Stronger than what we have now. That is not Obama.
We need energy independence. That is not Obama. Part of Russia’s strategy in Georgia may be to sever a key oil pipeline to the west. They know where to hit us.
Forget global warming. There is a global cold brewing; a new cold war. Two decades of U.S. dominance are ending. We need to be strong. Obama simply thinks that we just need to be nice. Nice won’t cut it.

Judge Him on His Character.
The tide seems to have turned.
The latest polls, if you care to acknowledge them, show Mr. McCain now actually leading Barack Hussein Obama by several percentage points. Who would’ve “thunk” it, (at least in the main-stream media)?
Several factors are starting to take root.
First, the honeymoon is over. All of his rock-star fame was apparently very fleeting. He was the new toy for many people, and just like little kids, many shallow-minded libs (and press) fall for that fluff. And just like kids, their attention span is near zero. They’re already tiring of him. Recall, that they displayed the same fickleness with Hillary in the primaries.
Second, conservative radio has done a fantastic job with the truth, not only uncovering so many of Obama’s crazed “mentors”, but also not letting them be swept under the rug again. This guy has scary associates and a questionable past, and there was only one media outlet that would talk about them. Some of that has finally sunk in.
Third, is the realization by more and more voters of his serious lack of experience. He brings nothing to the table but 143 days in the U.S. Senate; oh, and his “community activism”, whatever the hell that’s supposed to do to prepare him for running the country. He’s nothing but a cardboard cut-out of a candidate. Unprepared to lead.
Fourth, his flopping on the issues. Yes, I suppose we should expect it from all candidates, but this one is the extreme of playing to the crowd he's with.
Finally, his condescending arrogance. “America’s great hope” indeed. Only in his mind.
Now these items would explain things at the polls. But there’s one other factor not polled, and it might prove to be his biggest negative of all; he’s black.
I wrote on this aspect several months ago, and my opinion then and now, is that his color makes him unelectable in this place at this time. Could a different black man overcome this if he had none of the faults Obama carries? I would still have my doubts, and that is a very sad statement about us as a people. As much as this factor works against this candidate, and so works positively for the future of the country, it is regrettable. We shouldn’t need blind prejudice in order to defeat such a poor candidate for the Presidency. And in this case, I don’t believe we would.

Words of Wisdom
“How can limited government and fiscal restraint be equated with lack of compassion for the poor? How can a tax break that puts a little more money in the weekly paychecks of working people be seen as an attack on the needy? Since when do we in America believe that our society is made up of two diametrically opposed classes—one rich, one poor—both in a permanent state of conflict and neither able to get ahead except at the expense of the other? Since when do we in America accept this alien and discredited theory of social and class warfare? Since when do we in America endorse the politics of envy and division?”
