Just returning to the northern compound this evening after a trip across the state to visit the parents. It turned into much more than that!
Over the course of five days, we also saw two sisters, one step-brother, one brother in-law, two cousins, one second-cousin, an aunt and uncle and a niece and nephew! Thankfully not all at once! (Meaning that it was ultimately more gratifying to have special time, with separate visits)
This was especially nice for us, since we just don't get many opportunities to see these folks once we return home to Chicagoland.
For the most part, adults don't change much over periods of months, at least as compared to the kids in the family who can change over a weekend! So it seemed that all was still much the same with everyone. That's not a bad thing in the case of this family, where all are enjoying good if not excellent health and a decent level of prosperity.
We had cool but acceptable summer weather and the beautiful setting of Michigan's Inland Waterway to enjoy our watercraft, the lake house and plenty of food and drink.
We are glad to return to the compound under almost all circumstances, but we'll miss the gang.
